Four men have been nabbed by the police in Lagos over alleged sexual abuse of their children and wards.
Interestingly, one of the suspected sinners bears the name of a Catholic Saint – Pope Paul.
According to the Lagos State police spokesman, a man identified as Pastor Pope Paul was arrested for allegedly raping and impregnating a 15-year-old girl. The suspect was dragged to Igando Police Station by the victim’s mother who came from Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The complainant said that sometime in August, 2017 her daughter was brought to Lagos to live with the suspect and his wife, but when she discovered that the girl was pregnant sometime in June, 2018, she interrogated her, and the name of Pope Paul was mentioned.
The victim told the police in her statement that it all started in January, 2018 when the suspect started having sexual intercourse with her, and got her pregnant. She stated further that she gave birth to a baby girl sometime in April, 2019.

One other case involved a 19-year-old girl who had endured sexual abuse from her arrested stepfather, Akin Olatilu, since she was 14 because the mother chose to remain silent.
The victim told the police that their last sexual intercourse was on March 2019 and she decided to speak out when she was beaten by her mother because she resisted the abuse in June.
Another case was that of a 68-year-old man arrested for allegedly raping his 15-year-old daughter and her friends. The case of defilement against the man identified as Yisah Showunmi was reported at Imota Police Station. The victim alleged that her father had been having sexual intercourse with her for the past three years. She added that her father also raped two of her visiting friends who were 15 and 16 years old.
The victim claimed that the last incident happened on June 23, 2019.
Elkana further mentioned the case of a man arrested for raping a girl in an uncompleted building.
The case was reported at Iba Police Station by one Harrison Chukwereuke who claimed that he caught one Aliyu Ali Mohammed having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl inside an uncompleted building in the estate.
