A 73-year-old taxi driver has been held by the police in Lagos, after he was allegedly found to have defiled and impregnated a 14-year-old girl.
According to the Lagos State police spokesman, SP Chike Oti, the police are investigating a case of defilement reported against Pa Fola Olowoigbo, of House Number 2, Fela Ahmed Street, Agric, in Ikorodu area of Lagos.
He said that the suspect allegedly defiled the child till she became pregnant.
Oti said, “The suspect who hailed from Ago-Iwoye, in Ogun State is a local taxi driver and next door neighbour to the child’s mother.
“It was said that the victim was always sent on errands by the suspect unknown to the mother that he had ulterior motives.
“Based on these developments, which are rife these days, the Lagos State commissioner of police CP Imohimi Edgal, wishes to warn parents to be wary of whom their children relates with so that incidences of these nature will not recur.”
