The Delta State Police Command has intensified its crime prevention operations across the state, impounding 22 vehicles for traffic and regulatory violations while arresting three suspects accused of obstructing and assaulting police officers during enforcement duties.
The operation, carried out on May 8, was led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in compliance with the directive of the Commissioner of Police on aggressive visibility policing and enhanced supervision across the state.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, the coordinated patrol involved operatives from the Department of Operations (DOPS Buffalo), the Special Enquiry Unit, and Operation Delta Shield, who conducted extensive crime prevention patrols within the Asaba metropolis.
Police said the operation targeted violations capable of undermining public safety and security, including the use of unregistered vehicles, driving without number plates, driving against traffic, and operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
During the exercise, 22 vehicles were impounded for various offences, while three suspects were taken into custody for allegedly resisting and attacking officers carrying out lawful duties.
The Command reiterated its resolve to enforce extant laws without fear or favour, stressing that no individual would be spared irrespective of social status or influence.
“The Delta State Police Command remains firm, professional, and unbiased in enforcing the law,” the statement noted, while urging residents to remain law-abiding and support security agencies with credible information that could aid crime prevention.
The police also assured residents of continued proactive patrols and visibility policing aimed at sustaining peace and order across the state.
