Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested four suspected members of a gun-running syndicate linked to the recovery of a Beretta pistol in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill and Amadi Felix Chibuike, were apprehended in coordinated intelligence-led operations carried out across Bayelsa and Imo states.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, disclosed this during a press briefing in Asaba.
According to the police, the arrests followed investigations into the recovery of a Beretta pistol at a park in Effurun on May 1, 2026.
Police said the first suspect, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, was arrested in Bayelsa State on May 4 alongside his friend and roommate, whose phone he allegedly used to negotiate the purchase of the firearm.
During interrogation, Emmanuel reportedly confessed that he bought the gun from one Amadi Princewill for N290,000 before selling it to a suspect identified simply as Desmond, who is currently at large, for N380,000.
Investigators said Desmond subsequently arranged for the firearm to be transported to Effurun and contacted one Oghenemine Ogidi, now deceased, to retrieve it and move it to Sapele.
Acting on Emmanuel’s confession, operatives tracked and arrested Amadi Princewill in Imo State on May 15.
Police said Princewill later revealed that he had purchased the firearm from another suspect, Amadi Felix, for N200,000.
This led to the arrest of Amadi Felix in Owerri, Imo State, on May 16.
The police further disclosed that all the suspects are members of the Black Axe confraternity.
CP Oyeniyi said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate, including Desmond.
