The federal government has expressed shock at the mysterious death of a US-based Nigerian medical doctor, Ben Okigbo, and his wife, Theresa.
The couple were reportedly found dead in their home in Houston, Texas, on Friday morning.
The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), in a statement today, condoled with the couple’s children and the Nigerian diaspora community in the US.
The statement, signed by NIDCOM’s Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, says the federal government will continue to monitor police investigation into the incident.
The statement reads, “The news of the death of Dr. Ben Okigbo, a medical doctor in Houston and his wife, Theresa who was a nurse, is most shocking and depressing.
“Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) condoles with the family, particularly the children, who are now orphans, as well as members of the Nigerian diaspora community in the US.
“Dr. Ben Okigbo and his wife, Theresa, were found dead in their Sugar Land, Texas home on Friday morning, according to police.
“NIDCOM commiserates with the Okigbo family and pray unto God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
“NIDCOM will continue to monitor police investigations into the unfortunate incident.”
