The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has resumed the sale of petrol in naira following the intervention of the Federal Government’s Naira-for-Crude Technical Committee.
In a memo to marketers on Saturday, sighted by Newsmakerslive.org, the refinery confirmed that sales in naira had recommenced with immediate effect.
“Following the intervention of the Naira-for-Crude Technical Committee Chairman, we are pleased to inform you of the resumption of PMS sales in naira commencing immediately,” the refinery stated. “You may kindly proceed to place your orders in naira for both self-collection and free delivery of PMS to the earlier advised locations across the country.”
The announcement came barely 24 hours after the refinery said it would suspend sales in naira effective Sunday, September 28, 2025, citing the exhaustion of its crude-for-naira allocation.
In that earlier memo, the company explained that it had been selling fuel beyond the volumes covered by the arrangement and would therefore no longer be able to sustain naira transactions.
Customers who had paid in naira were advised to apply for refunds.
With Saturday’s reversal, industry sources said the committee’s intervention had resolved the impasse, paving the way for continued domestic sales of petrol in the local currency.
