A Customs Officer in Nigeria made his claim to fame today when he took a dramatic step to upstage his boss but ended up at a psychiatric hospital.

Nura Dalhatu, an Assistant Superintendent of Customs, who hails from Katsina State, reportedly appeared at the Nigeria Customs Headquarters in Abuja wearing the rank of CGC to which he claimed to have promoted himself.

NewsmakersNG learnt that Dalhatu visited the Comptroller General, Col.Hameed Ali, in his office to take over as the new CGC, claiming that it was directed by the President.

Authorities of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) however described the action as a mental case in a terse statement from the spokesman, DC Joseph Attah.

It says, “For those who have seen or may soon see a picture that is being variously misinterpreted…
What happened was that an Assistant Superintendent of Customs came to the office today wearing the rank of a Deputy Comptroller General.
“From questions and answers that followed, it was obvious that he was not in the right frame of mind, so a Doctor was immediately invited.
“He is presently undergoing a medical examination at the medical unit of the service.”
