The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC) Sadiq Tahir Muhammad, who was shot dead by armed men in Kebbi State.
According to a statement issued by the Service’s management, Muhammad was attacked and killed in the line of duty on Saturday, along Maje axis, Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The Nigeria Customs Service described the late officer as a dedicated and gallant personnel whose service exemplified the finest values of the organisation.
“His passing is a great loss to the Service and the nation at large,” the statement said.
Following Islamic rites, Muhammad was buried at the Makeran Gwandu Cemetery after funeral prayers held at the Emir of Gwandu’s Palace.
The ceremony was attended by the Governor of Kebbi State, Dr Nasir Idris, members of the Emirate Council, serving and retired senior Customs officers, and other dignitaries.
The Comptroller-General has ordered a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack, vowing that those responsible would be identified and brought to justice.
While mourning the fallen officer, the Service reaffirmed its commitment to securing the nation’s borders and protecting the lives of its personnel.
“The Comptroller-General once again commiserates with the bereaved family and prays for the Almighty to grant the soul of the departed officer eternal rest,” the statement added.
