CUPP Digs Up Dirt on Aspiring Deputy Speaker, Wase …Alleges Violation of CCB Act

Malik Yahya/

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has released documents indicting Hon Ahmed Idris Wase (APC, Plateau) who is contesting the deputy speaker’s position in the House of Representatives.

Accusing Wase of violating the Code of Conduct Act by operating private company with wives and son as well as awarding constituency project to his company, the opposition group released certified Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Forms to prove their allegations against the aspirant who is the running mate of an aspiring Speaker of the 9th Assembly, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila.

In a statement received by NewsmakersNG, CUPP alleged that Wase owned and operated a private company while still serving as a member of the House of Representatives for many years in violation of the Constitution, his oath of office and relevant Nigerian laws.

According to the statement, Wase, who has been a member of the House since 2007, owned and operated his family’s private company together with his two wives and children for many years up until April last year, 2018 which is a gross violation of Nigerian laws for a public officer especially serving member of the National Assembly.

The group furnished NewsmakersNG with copies of documents obtained from the CAC purportedly showing that Wase only relinquished his shares in the company – Walbansa Nigeria Limited – on April 30, 2018, about the time he was to become the Deputy Majority Leader of the House after the demise of Hon Umar Buba Jibrin who held the position since 2015.

Wase, who has been the Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character in different Assemblies, was identified by CUPP as the majority shareholder in Walbansa Nigeria Limited owning 350,000 ordinary shares while his son Ala-Adin and two wives – Fatima and Nafisa owned the remaining shares of the company.

The statement signed by CUPP’s spokesperson, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, says, “However, on April 30, 2018, he transferred all his shares to his son by name Ala-Aldin Ahmed, meaning that even while serving as a ranking member of the House he continued to run his private company in violation of the Code of Conduct for public officers set out in the Fifth Schedule to the 1999 Constitution.

“The filings on CAC Form 2A reads ‘I Ahmed Idris, of No. 2, Road 6922, Abuja Model City, Gwarinpa, Abuja hereby transfer 350,000 ordinary shares held by me in WALBANSA NIGERIA LIMITED- RC: 876246 to Ala-Aldin Ahmed’.

“With the transfer of the shares, Ala-Aldin now holds 600,000 majority shares while the two wives Fatima and Nafisa hold 200,000 shares each.

“Further investigations also revealed that Hon Wase allegedly used the company to execute his Constituency projects among many other contracts while his wife who is a staff of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), a public officer continues to be a shareholder in the company- another gross violation of the provisions of the Constitution

“It is clear that the All Progressives Congress anointed candidates are tainted in corruption and dishonesty as Hon Femi Gbajabiamila is facing two court actions over his conviction on fraud by the Supreme Court of the State of Georgia, the United States of America and also committed perjury in filing his nomination forms in INEC in 2007.

“We are in possession of irrefutable evidence that the President Buhari led APC deliberately working on imposing the duo of Femi Gbajabiamila and Ahmed Idris Wase on the House so as to use their shoddy past as a noose, a leash, a manacle and shackle on their necks so as to manipulate the House of Representatives and turn them to a rubber stamp Assembly. This should be the beginning of the rumoured third term agenda of President Buhari being orchestrated by the cabal.

“This is a major blow to the much taunted anti-corruption fight of the Muhammadu Buhari administration and it remains to be seen if the APC and the government will, as usual, cover up this monumental fraud and succeed in imposing the two corrupt members as leaders of the House of Representatives.

“We, however, call on the Honourable members elect to rise up and protect the independence of the Parliament now before it is too late by rejecting Femi Gbajabiamila and Ahmed Idris Wase or be turned into slaves and political Alleluia boys of the Executive.

“Nigerians are still in awe how a President whose initial selling point was his anti-corruption war is now the same person who is deliberately choosing corrupt people for very delicate offices and attempting to impose them on the Parliament.

“This emergence will certify the death of the anti-corruption war and confirm it a joke and comic show.

“The Nigerian opposition will continue to hold President Buhari and the APC to task while they temporarily hold office until the real owner of the stolen mandate retrieves it from them at the Tribunal.”
