CALABAR — The Cross River State Government has congratulated the Director of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), AIG Akaninyene Ife Ibom Ezima, on his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), describing the elevation as a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding service, exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to combating cybercrime in Nigeria.
In a congratulatory letter dated July 3, 2026, and signed by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Erasmus Ekpang, the state government said the promotion was not only a personal milestone for the senior police officer but also a moment of pride for the entire people of Cross River State.
The government noted that Ezima’s rise to one of the Nigeria Police Force’s highest ranks reflected years of hard work, professionalism, discipline and visionary leadership, particularly in the fight against cybercrime.
According to the letter, his elevation is an affirmation of his dedication to duty and the remarkable contributions he has made to policing and national security, especially through his leadership of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre.
The state further described the promotion as evidence of Ezima’s exceptional career, expressing confidence that he would continue to distinguish himself in his new office while bringing greater honour to both Cross River State and the Nigeria Police Force.
“Your promotion is an affirmation of your dedication, discipline and the impact of your visionary approach to service over the years, and indeed a reflection of your outstanding contributions to policing in the country and the fight against cybercrime in particular,” the letter stated.
On behalf of the government and people of Cross River State, Commissioner Ekpang extended warm congratulations to the newly promoted AIG and wished him success as he assumes greater responsibilities.
He also urged the police chief to remain steadfast in upholding the values of justice, fairness and integrity while continuing to strengthen Nigeria’s efforts against cybercrime.
The congratulatory message adds to the growing stream of goodwill that has greeted AIG Ezima’s promotion, with many stakeholders describing his elevation as a fitting reward for years of distinguished and impactful service to the nation.
