The Lagos State Police Command and the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) have moved to strengthen their partnership on environmental enforcement and security operations across the state.
The renewed collaboration came into focus on Tuesday when the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.
Discussions during the visit centred on enhancing police security support for LAWMA personnel during lawful environmental enforcement operations and deepening inter-agency cooperation towards achieving a cleaner and safer Lagos.
CP Fatai welcomed the LAWMA delegation and expressed appreciation for the visit, reaffirming the Police Command’s commitment to providing necessary security support for legitimate environmental enforcement activities across the state.
The engagement underscored the importance of collaboration between security and environmental agencies in maintaining public order while enforcing regulations designed to improve sanitation and protect the Lagos environment.
The visit also provided an opportunity for officials of both agencies to reinforce their shared commitment to a safer, cleaner and more orderly megacity.
