Commissioner of Police (CP) Olohundare Moshood Jimoh officially assumed duty as the 41st Lagos Command boss today promising to build on the accomplishments of his predecessor.
Taking over from CP Olanrewaju Ishola, who has been redeployed to Force Headquarters, Abuja, Jimoh pledged to intensify efforts in line with the Inspector General of Police’s (IGP) agenda to ensure security and stability in Nigeria’s commercial hub.
Speaking on his first day in office, Jimoh hailed the achievements of his predecessor, acknowledging the strides made in crime control and public safety under Ishola’s leadership, especially the arrest of more than 50 cultists in his latest operation.
He assured Lagosians of his commitment to enhancing security, fostering community trust, and improving police operations.
The Lagos CP added that security would be enhanced across the state, particularly in its waterways. He disclosed that the Marine Police would be fully equipped and deployed to patrol Lagos creeks and riverine areas to deter criminals who exploit these routes to infiltrate the state and perpetrate crimes.
According to Jimoh, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olukayode Egbetokun has acquired gunboats and advanced security gadgets to strengthen the Marine Police. He emphasized that this unit remains a critical component of the IGP’s strategic policing plan.
“The full weight of the law will be applied to criminals in Lagos. They are strongly warned to either repent and abandon their crimes or leave the state. Going forward, Lagos will be too hot for the underworld, and criminals will find it a no-go area,” he said.
Commending officers of the command for their dedication, which has contributed to a decline in violent crimes, Jimoh urged them to intensify their efforts in their respective areas of responsibility. He also underscored the importance of upholding human rights, cautioning that any violation, no matter how minor, would attract sanctions.

He assured that past achievements would be further improved upon to reduce crime across the state. While acknowledging that crime in Lagos is not at an alarming level and remains surmountable, he pledged to double police efforts in collaboration with the government and residents to minimize crime and criminality.
Expressing gratitude to IGP Egbetokun for the trust reposed in him, Jimoh assured that his leadership would uphold international best practices in policing.
“As the lead internal security agency in Lagos, the Police Command has a crucial role in combating crime and ensuring the safety of all residents. To achieve this, we will work closely with the state government, traditional rulers, religious leaders, investors, public-spirited individuals, and other critical stakeholders.”
He also stressed the importance of collaboration with sister security and safety agencies, pledging to strengthen the existing synergy among all security forces in the state.
“I wish to assure all stakeholders of the command’s unwavering commitment to security. Under my leadership, the Lagos State Police Command will foster closer partnerships with key security agencies to implement unified strategies in tackling crime effectively,” Jimoh said.
