The Ports Authority Police (Western Command) under the leadership of CP Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola, has commenced the inaugural National Police Day 2025 celebrations in grand style.

According to the command’s spokesman, ASP Isaac Hundeyin, the Western Command has joined the Force Headquarters, other formations, and state commands in commemorating the week-long event, which began on April 2, 2025. The ongoing celebrations feature various activities across Apapa and its environs, culminating in a grand parade and procession at Eagle Square, Abuja, on April 7, 2025.

As part of the celebrations, the command’s activities include:

  • A town hall meeting with relevant stakeholders at the command headquarters.
  • A security sensitization walk from the Apapa Port main entrance to Tin Can Island Port.
  • A cleanup exercise in designated areas around Apapa and its environs.
  • A medical outreach program at General Hospital, Apapa.

“The National Police Day is an opportunity for the Nigeria Police Force to be celebrated, engage closely with the community, and showcase its operational readiness,” Hundeyin stated. “It also serves as a moment to honor the selfless service of officers and men who work tirelessly to keep the country safe, some of whom have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.”

CP Ishola expressed appreciation to critical maritime stakeholders for their cooperation in maintaining security at the nation’s ports, ensuring a safe environment for business activities. He urged all port users to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and adhere to existing safety regulations.
