The Gombe State Police Command today witnessed a colourful decoration ceremony as the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, formally decorated newly promoted senior officers on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
Held at the Command Headquarters in Gombe, the ceremony featured the elevation of three Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and nine Superintendents of Police (SP) to Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).
Those promoted from ACP to DCP are DCP Udu Moses Ogechi, PhD, Commanding Officer, 59 Police Mobile Force (PMF); DCP Abubakar Dahiru Auna, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Operations); and DCP Abubakar Sabo Giade, Area Commander, Bajoga.
The newly promoted CSPs are CSP Tijjani Usaini Ringim, Command Finance Officer; CSP Thomas Umedi, Command Legal Officer; CSP Salisu Abdul Ibrahim Ningi, Divisional Police Officer, Deba Division; CSP Nura Muhammad Suleiman, Divisional Police Officer, Dukku Division; CSP Lazarus Yalbi Salatiel, Divisional Crime Officer, Shongom Division; CSP Ibrahim Musa Dayi, Admin Officer, 34 PMF; CSP Abdulrasheed El-Rufa’i; and CSP Tobias S. Tsenshut, Divisional Crime Officer, Pantami Division.
In his remarks, CP Chuso congratulated the officers on what he described as well-deserved promotions, noting that their elevation reflected years of dedication, discipline, and meritorious service to the Nigeria Police Force. He charged them to see the new ranks as a call to greater responsibility and leadership, urging them to uphold professionalism, integrity, and operational excellence in the discharge of their duties.
The Commissioner further commended the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police to the welfare and motivation of personnel, stressing that the IGP’s ongoing welfare-driven reforms are designed to boost morale, enhance operational effectiveness, and strengthen public confidence in policing.

The ceremony attracted notable dignitaries, including the Deputy Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Sadam Bello Sale; the Emir of Funakaye, His Royal Highness Alhaji Yakubu Muhammad Kwairanga IV; representatives of the Funakaye Local Government Chairman; members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC); families of the promoted officers, the media, and other stakeholders.
Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the promoted officers, DCP Ogechi expressed profound appreciation to the IGP and the Police Service Commission for the confidence reposed in them, pledging renewed commitment to professionalism, discipline, and effective service delivery.
