Kaduna State government says it plans to stop the 25 percent deduction from the salary of its workers beginning from this month.
The state government had been making the mandatory deduction from the salaries of public servants earning a minimum of N67,000 since April, when COVID-19 lockdown was introduced in the state.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai made this known in a tweet this afternoon.
El-Rufai said with the easing of the lockdown, citizens would be able to fend for themselves and no longer require government’s support.
His tweet reads, “The significant easing of the lockdown in the state allows citizens to resume the pursuit of livelihoods, in safe conditions and with personal responsibility. Therefore, KDSG has decided that no further donations are required from public servants, effective from June 2020.”
