Covid-19: Jailed Indian Gangster Gets VIP Treatment as Good Citizens Die Like Dogs

Femi Ashekun/

Controversy is trailing the decision of the Indian government to admit one of the country’s most notorious gangsters, Rajendra Nikalje, aka Chhota Rajan, into a VIP medical facility after he tested positive for COVID-19 in jail.

Nikalje is currently serving a life sentence in a New Delhi prison.

He is reportedly on admission in the prestigious All India Institute Of Medical Sciences.

The development has sparked off a major controversy, with many citizens chiding the government for giving a criminal such high end medical attention when all bed spaces are virtually full in most major hospitals and thousands of patients are struggling to access basic care.

Nikalje is reputed as the head of a crime syndicate, the Nana Company in Mumbai, which specialises in smuggling, extortion, and has been accused of at least one murder.
