Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has said that Nigeria may lift the ban on international flights earlier than October.
The minister stated this while clarifying that the routine 90-day Notices to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) did not mean international flights would resume in three months.
The minister’s reaction was contained in a tweet shared by the Federal Ministry of Aviation via @fmaviationng.
Sirika also said the country would not wait for other countries to resume international flights before reopening its airports to international traffic.
“International Flight resumption date is not October. NAMA just issued a routine 90 day Notices to Airmen (NOTAM). In liaison with @Fmohnigeria @NigeriaMFA & PTF COVID-19, we will announce the agreed date, regardless of the ban by Europe, UAE etc. May be earlier than October… Minister of Aviation @hadisirika,” the tweet read.
