Some officers attached to the Pedro Police Station in Lagos reportedly arrested a medical doctor this evening for flouting the nationwide curfew.
The curfew, which restricts movement in all parts of the country except those on essential duty, was announced by the federal government as part of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The victim, who narrated his experience on Twitter, said he was accosted by the police officers on his way to work around 9pm.
The victim, who tweeted via the handle, @DoctorEmtor, said the officers insisted on arresting him despite showing them his ID card and the pass which exempted him from the curfew.
The tweet reads, “I’m on duty tonight and some police officers just held me and took me to Pedro police station Gbagada.
“I explained and showed them my ID card and pass as well, but they refused, ignored and instead they took me to the police station.
“I’m an essential worker oooo!”
