Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, says the number of staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 in iSON Xperiences, a company based in Ibadan, the state capital, has risen to 78.
The company, which provides customer care and call centre services for major telecoms companies, is located in Ibadan South West Local Government Area of Ibadan metropolis.
The governor first announced on Saturday, May 16, that 30 staff from the organisation tested positive for COVID-19.
Eight more also tested positive for the disease from the same organisation on Sunday, May 17, while additional 25 positive cases were recorded on Monday and Tuesday.
Makinde said in a statement in the early hours of today that 15 more staff from the organisation tested positive yesterday.
“Also, the COVID-19 confirmation tests for nineteen suspected cases came back POSITIVE.
“Fifteen are from iSON Xperiences in Ibadan South West LGA, 2 are from Ido LGA and 1 is from Ibadan South East LGA. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is 162,” the statement reads.
