Three suspects accused of the gruesome murder of businesswoman Madam Kitan Oyesiku and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, have been remanded in a correctional facility by a Magistrate Court in Abeokuta pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The suspects, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip (22), Abduraheem Sakirudeen (27), and Sobur Obafunso (30), were arraigned on Monday before Magistrate Court 3, Isabo, Abeokuta, by the Ogun State Police Command over the double homicide that occurred on June 20, 2026, at Agodo Village, Kobape, Abeokuta.
The prosecution, through an ex parte application, urged the court to remand the defendants while investigations are concluded and legal advice is obtained from the DPP.
The court granted the application, ordering that the three suspects be remanded in a correctional facility for 60 days.
The matter was thereafter adjourned until September 7, 2026, for further proceedings.
The arraignment comes days after the Ogun State Police Command announced a major breakthrough in the investigation into the shocking killings, saying forensic analysis of a handwritten note recovered from the crime scene, combined with intelligence gathering and technical tracking, led detectives to the suspects.
Police had also recovered the deceased’s stolen Lexus RX 330 during the investigation.
According to investigators, the principal suspect, Philip, allegedly confessed to recruiting the two other defendants and claimed the attack was intended to “teach her a lesson” following grievances he reportedly harboured against the deceased while working as her security guard.
The suspects are alleged to have overpowered Adetayo before gaining access to Oyesiku’s residence, where both victims were murdered.
The Ogun State Police Command has maintained that investigations are continuing to ensure diligent prosecution of all those connected with the crime while reaffirming its commitment to securing justice for the victims.
