The Abuja Division of Federal High Court today declined a request seeking an expedited decision on whether or not Mr Godwin Emefiele can run for president without resigning his current position as the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Emefiele approached the court today through his counsel, Mike Ozekhome, arguing that he will suffer “irreparable damage” unless immediately granted a leave to run for president while in office.
Instead, the court adjourned the matter till May 12 for the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Attorney-General, Abubakar Malami, to file their respective responses to Emefiele’s application.
