The Abuja division of the Court of Appeal today sacked Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party three days to the governorship election in Ondo State.
The Court, presided over by Justice Ibrahim Saulawa, thereafter, ordered that Ibrahim be replaced with Mr. Eyitayo Jegede, who belongs to the Ahmed Makarfi faction of the party.
The Appeal Court set aside a ruling of the Federal High Court by Justice Okon Abang, which declared Ibrahim the candidate.
All the objections filed by Ibrahim and his loyalists at the Appeal Court were also dismissed.
In a swift reaction, Ibrahim said: “I have read the decision of the Court of Appeal delivered today. We have nothing to lose as the Supreme Court sits on the same case tomorrow. We shall get justice at the Supreme Court and if PDP wins Saturday’s election, we shall have our 4-year mandate to rule Ondo State.”
He urged his supporters not to fight or abuse anyone over the ruling.
