A fine of N50, 000 has been awarded against one of the parties fighting for the control of the Vigilance Group of Nigeria (VGN).
Usman Mohammad Jahun, who sued Alhaji Ali Sokoto over the leadership of VGN, was yesterday fined by a High Court in Kaduna for failing to turn up again in court, after stalling the case for eight months.
Newsmakersng learnt that Sokoto’s lawyer has made his submission eight months ago, while Jahun’s lawyer has not made any attempt on his own final submission.
Apparently embarrassed by what appears as an intentional unlawful attitude, the judge decided to award a cost against Jahun to the tune of N50, 000, to be paid to Sokoto.
The case has been adjourned till May 9, 2017, with a warning that Jahun would have himself to blame if he fails to appear once again in court.
