Residents of the Sabon Gari area of Zaria, Kaduna State, were thrown into mourning after a fire gutted a residence killing a couple and their six children.
It was gathered that the fire incident happened around 2 am yesterday when the family members were asleep.
An eyewitness said the heat from the residence of the victims woke neighbors, who came out to put out the fire.
The eyewitness added that they couldn’t rescue the trapped family members alive and that firefighters didn’t arrive until the family members were burnt.
He identified the victims as Malam Rabiu Mohammed, the husband; Fatima, his wife and their six children, Rabiatu, Hauwa’u, Hindatu, Umar, Ibrahim, and Abubakar (infant).
