A minor German aristocrat, Prince Heinrich XIII, 71, has been arrested with 24 others in a major German coup plot.
He comes from an old noble family which once ruled parts of east of the modern Thuringia state, until 1918.
He’s alleged to be one of two ringleaders of the group.
Those arrested also include members of the extremist Reichsbürger (Citizens of the Reich) movement who do not believe in the modern German state.
The plot was to overthrow the German republic and replace it with an authoritarian system modeled after the Second Reich of 1877!
The were arrested in an operation involving 3,000 officers, raiding 130 homes & sites in 11 states across the country. 3 people were also picked up in Austria and Italy.
The coup plot has been on since November 2021. But investigators had got wind of it since April.
The arrests were carried out in what is believed to be the biggest police operation in more than 50 years.
