Residents of Oshodi-Isolo area of Lagos now have cause to smile as the council Chairman, Mr Bolaji Ariyoh embarks on ‘Operation Fix Oshodi’ project, to give the area a comprehensive face lift.
Launched by the chairman last week, the operation intends to give a complete makeover to Oshodi-Isolo area in terms of roads repairs and constructions, clearing of drainage and removal of refuse.
According to Ariyoh, the council commenced repair works at Boladale junction, Oshodi Road, and Dosunmu/Baderin junctions. Yesterday, it embarked on soil cement stabilization and laying of crushed stones on some streets such as Seinde Callisto, around Charity bus stop in Oshodi. The chairman added that the works department would move to Alhaji Rafiu Street (Harekrishna), this week.
In the area of environment, Ariyoh said that the job would last for a while as it was a continuous process.
“Presently, we have started the removal of refuse from resident areas, black spots and drains. The exercise is expected to cut across all wards and it includes de-silting of drains to ensure free flow of waste and rain waters,” he said, adding that removal of refuse would be, “a daily exercise until we have a clean environment”.
