The Lagos State government said it had located the two wanted passengers, who flew into Nigeria aboard the Turkish airlines with the Italian coronavirus (COVID-19) index case.

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, told journalists yesterday that the two Nigerians – Mr Emweluta Godfrey Obumnore and Mr Salami Abiodun Sadeeq – have been placed under watchlist and isolated.

Abayomi also disclosed that six persons are currently being quarantined at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Yaba, due to their likelihood of their being infected with the coronavirus.

The two men were declared wanted by the Lagos State Government on Monday.

The commissioner said all attempts to contact the two men to ensure they are in isolation had proved abortive, hence, the decision to reveal their identities and declare them wanted.

The six quarantined persons, according to Abayomi, include four siblings, a teacher and another person who flew into the country from the United Kingdom.

The Commissioner said the four siblings and their teacher have had contact with a coronavirus case, which made it necessary for them to be tested to ascertain their status.

He said they had been quarantined three days ago, with first test conducted on them coming out as negative.

“But we still cannot allow them to leave until we complete another test that will indicate their definite status. If they test negative again, we will allow them to leave but if not, we will still hold on to them,” he added.
