Commuter Bus, Tanker Collide on Abuja-Lokoja Road, Several Burnt to Death

Several people were burnt to death in an accident involving a fuel-laden tanker, a commuter bus and tricycle, popularly called keke, at Felele, along the Abuja-Lokoja road, on Friday.

An eyewitness, whose house is close to the scene, described the sight as gory in an online account of the accident, adding that it took a combined team of fire fighters several to douse the fire.

The eyewitness, who identified himself as Oye Isreal, stated: “The accident happened around 2pm but the fire is burning till now (5pm). Three different teams of fire fighters have not been able to stop the fire.

“The scene is a stone throw from my house. It wasn’t funny at all. God have mercy on that road. May the dead rest in peace and I wish the survivors fast recovery.

“Till now the tanker is still burning seriously. So disastrous.”

Pictures posted online show several burnt bodies scattered around the scene.

Newsmakers has no official confirmation of the casualty figure.
