The Rivers State Police Command has cautioned against the growing practice of collecting transport fare for dates and failing to show up, describing it as a criminal offence.

In a video posted on X yesterday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the act amounted to fraud and punishable under the law.

“It is obtaining money under false pretence, also known as 419. Offenders can be arrested and prosecuted if complaints are lodged with the police,” she warned.

Iringe-Koko further advised members of the public to avoid deceitful financial dealings.
