Ololade Adeyanju/

Nigerian students in Kamloops, B.C. area of Canada believe they might have become victims of targeted killings as seven of their colleagues got hit by hit-and-run drivers in the last three weeks.

Three victims of one the accidents have died, with two of them, 22-year-old Daniel Okocha and Oluwafeyisola Adebowale, dying at the scene of the accident. The third, Oluwatosin Adeojo, died in the hospital.

The three were students of Thompson Rivers University (TRU).

The accident reportedly occured at First Avenue and Battle Street, in the early of Sunday November 3.

The deceased persons were reportedly riding in a car alongside one other Nigerian when the driver of a speeding pickup lost control and rammed their vehicle.

The driver of the pickup was said to have fled the scene following the crash.

The vehicle’s registered owner was however arrested but was released later same day without charges.

A message shared with the students by the Dean of the university’s School of Business and Economics, Michael Henry, revealed that two other students were involved in another auto accident on Tuesday and suffered serious injuries.

He said the two were still in the hospital without giving further details.

The dean further disclosed that another student was hit by a vehicle while walking home from work last week.

He added the student had been discharged from the hospital but would take a long time to recover from his injuries.
