The Christ Apostolic Church, Way-to-Life, Ottawa, infused a burst of joy into the community last Sunday with a vibrant, free-for-all annual picnic at Ruth Wildgen Park.

The event, held after a brief Sunday service, promoted healthy living through an array of sports, games, exercises, music, dancing, and a feast of assorted foods.

The picnic attracted both long-time members and newcomers, who were drawn to the church’s unique approach to corporate responsibility, which includes charitable gifts and ministerial guidance. Activities ranged from swimming competitions and table tennis to handball, dance competitions, and the classic tug-of-war, ensuring participation from all ages and genders.

Attendees enjoyed a delicious spread featuring rice with chicken, fried yam, plantain, puff-puff, grilled chicken, meat suya, fruit salad, wines, and ice cream. The abundance of food underscored the church’s commitment to community fellowship and well-being.

The spiritual highlight of the day was delivered by Senior Pastor Debo Adeoye, who enriched the attendees with a sermon on the parable of the “Prodigal Son” from Luke 15:11-24. Pastor Adeoye emphasized the importance of doing what is right before God and shunning the temptations of the flesh. He reinforced his message with Revelation 3:20, urging attendees to embrace repentance and Christ’s love.

The event was orchestrated under the leadership of Choir Master and Annual Picnic Planning Committee Chairman, Mr. Olufemi Itasanmi. The committee comprised dedicated members including Pastor Mathew Babatunde, Messrs. Toba Daniels, Akinyele Akindotuni, Kunle Abejide, Rotimi Edwards, and Msses. Abiola Itasanmi, Victoria Oibor, Bukola Babatunde, Opeyemi Adeola, Yetunde Babalola, Elizabeth Ganiyu, Adejoke Adegoke, Oyin Owoeye, and Ajoke Adebiyi.

The picnic not only provided a day of fun and fellowship but also opened doors for new members, highlighting the church’s ongoing commitment to fostering community spirit and spiritual growth.
