Children Orphaned as Man Kills Long-Time Lover During Fathers Day Visit in Lagos

From the Chief Detective/

When they came out jogging in their estate on Saturday, June 20, Chris Ndukwe and his lover, Olamide Alli presented the picture of a blissful relationship to the world around them.

They have been lovers for seven years and blessed with two children – 7 and 3-year-old boys.

But, no one who saw the loving couple jogging at Victory Point Estate, Ilasan, in Lagos, would ever think their love story would end in a murder-suicide soon after.

The next day at 4 p.m, when the world was celebrating Father’s Day, 39-year-old Ndukwe reportedly asked Olamide’s 22-year-old nursemaid who came visiting with her from their home in Ogba a day before to take the children outside. He then locked his woman in, turned on the music, and pumped up the volume.

The noise from the heavy speakers attracted neighbours who called on those managing the estate to step in and appeal to the lovers to take things easy.

Those who came to the house found Olamide’s nursemaid playing outside with the children.

They made their complaint and moved in to see the couple.

When several knocks on the door brought no response, they suspected that there was something wrong. They had to call in mobile policemen in the estate and the door was forced open.

The sight that greeted them was gory.

They found the 25-year-old woman dead in a pool of her own blood, with hands tied and body displaying multiple stab wounds.

Her head had been shaved with a clipper, and then stabbed with a knife.

She was also stabbed in the eyes and all over her body. Two bloody kitchen knives were found on the floor, alongside three empty cans of red bull energy drink, and a plier.

Ndukwe was also found dead.

Investigations later showed that he had drunk two bottles of the liquid pesticide known as Sniper.

According to residents, Ndukwe had only moved into the Estate three weeks earlier.

Those who have known the lovers said that a storm had been brewing over the paternity of their second child.

Olamide was the founder of Pearl Academy in Lagos.

Lagos State police spokesman, DSP Bala Elkana who confirmed the incident, said homicide detectives had sealed up the crime scene and commenced an investigation.  They have also taken the bodies to a hospital for an autopsy.

Elkana affirmed that two knives and two bottles of Sniper were found at the crime scene. He said that the woman had several injuries from stabbing and the husband was foaming in the mouth.
