Pandemonium erupted early today near Ponle Bus Stop, along Idimu Road, in Lagos, as enraged commercial motorcycle (Okada) riders clashed with officers of the Lagos State Taskforce in a violent protest over the seizure of their motorbikes.

Wielding machetes and other dangerous weapons, the aggrieved riders launched a brutal attack on the Taskforce officials, targeting their bus driver in the process. The driver was lynched and left with serious injuries before the protesters set the Taskforce vehicle ablaze in a fiery display of resistance.

Security operatives from Gowon Estate Police Station swiftly intervened, using tear gas to disperse the mob and restore order to the troubled area.

This latest incident underscores the escalating tensions between authorities and commercial motorcyclists in Lagos, as enforcement efforts against Okada operations continue to spark unrest. Authorities are yet to confirm any arrests, but investigations into the violent clash are expected to follow.
