Nigerian airline, Air Peace has issued a strongly worded statement condemning the “unruly conduct” of a prominent politician at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall), in Lagos, early this morning.
Independent investigations by Newsmakerslive.org have since identified the individual in question as Senator Adams Oshiomhole.
In its official statement, Air Peace recounted how a high-profile passenger disrupted operations after missing Flight P47120, scheduled to depart Lagos for Abuja at 6.30am.
The passenger reportedly arrived at 6.10am, after the boarding gate had already closed in line with the airline’s strict on-time departure policy.
The statement detailed how the individual reacted to missing the flight by allegedly assaulting airline staff and blocking the terminal entrance. “This unacceptable behavior caused significant disruption to ongoing operations and affected numerous travellers scheduled for various flights,” the airline noted.
Air Peace reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on violence and emphasised the importance of adhering to aviation safety protocols.
While the airline refrained from naming the individual involved, it expressed disappointment that “a high-profile figure displayed conduct so unbecoming.”
Further investigations revealed the individual as Senator Adams Oshiomhole, with video footage obtained by Newsmakerslive.org providing insight into the heated altercation. In the footage, the senator can be seen berating airline staff, accusing them of incompetence.
“You delay a flight for 4 hours, you are asking people to pay for your own incompetence, you don’t deserve to exist. I am not here for privilege, give me my ticket or give me my cash,” Oshiomhole shouted in the video.
To manage the fallout, the airline reportedly activated an operational contingency plan, redirecting passengers to an alternate terminal to ensure continuity of their travel plans.
Air Peace reiterated its commitment to professionalism, discipline, and respect for due process, stressing that no individual, regardless of their influence, is above these values.
“We urge all guests to remain civil and cooperative at all times,” the airline stated, emphasissing the importance of civility in aviation operations bound by strict timelines and safety protocols.
