The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has distanced itself from a purported federal government’s loan scheme for small-scale business owners being advertised on social media, describing it as a fraud.
The CBN in a statement today in Abuja by its spokesman, Isaac Okorafor, said the bank has nothing to do with the fraudulent scheme and advised the public to disregard it.
Part of the statement reads: “CBN has nothing to do with fraudulent messages on social media requesting unsuspecting loan seekers and owners of small-scale businesses to apply for loans provided by the Federal Government through the e-mail: empowermentcbnloan@gmail.com. please beware!”
