Nigerian social media went into full meltdown mode this week after explosive allegations linking singer Chike to the collapsed marriage of veteran TV host Frank Edoho surfaced online, triggering a fierce war of words, leaked audio claims and endless gossip across X.
The controversy erupted after multiple viral posts and X threads alleged that Chike had an intimate relationship with Frank Edoho’s estranged wife, Sandra Onyenucheya, during the broadcaster’s troubled marriage. One viral X post claimed Edoho allegedly confronted the singer privately instead of causing a public scene.
Fueling the online frenzy were alleged leaked conversations and cryptic social media reactions that sent gossip blogs and entertainment platforms into overdrive. While some users sympathised with the former “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” host, others accused social media users of turning an unverified marital crisis into digital entertainment.
Days after the rumours exploded, Sandra Onyenucheya finally broke her silence online, denying being painted as the sole villain in the saga. She accused Edoho of allegedly engaging in multiple affairs during their marriage and claimed she endured emotional distress before their separation.
The scandal soon widened into a celebrity free-for-all after Sandra allegedly mentioned names of female celebrities she claimed were linked to Edoho, prompting angry denials and threats of legal action from some of those named.
Meanwhile, online investigators and fact-checkers have warned that several X accounts may be exaggerating or manipulating claims surrounding the alleged Chike affair simply to chase engagement and virality.
Although neither Chike nor Frank Edoho has publicly confirmed the central cheating allegations in detail, the controversy has become one of Nigeria’s hottest celebrity conversations of the week, with fans dissecting every old tweet, interview and cryptic post tied to the embattled former couple.
As the internet courtroom continues sitting without adjournment, one thing is certain: in Nigeria’s celebrity culture, heartbreak now trends faster than hit songs.
