A motorbike is not something anyone would have expected to get lost in the wash.

But that was what happened at a carwash centre in Orisunmbare area of Shasha, in Lagos, where a customer had lost his motorbike, valued at N120,000.

Newsmakersng learnt from the carwash centre operator, how one of his employees dramatically bolted with the customers motorbike that he was asked to wash.

The proprietor called Chris gave an account of the incident that happened recently. He said that he could never have imagined such a thing happening.

Chris had left the centre briefly on that day, only to return to the news that one of his attendants, Isaiah, had bolted with a customer’s motorcycle, while pretending to be parking it properly.

According to him, the customer had excused himself to see someone close by while his bike was being washed. He returned to discover that the bike had gone missing.

Chris said the 20-year-old culprit, who was recommended for employment by an associate of his own younger sister, had barely spent three months on the job before committing the crime.

He said everyone around, including the other staff, were caught completely off guard by the culprit’s action.

When the police invited the man that stood as culprit’s guarantor, he said he could only afford to pay half the cost of replacing the bike, Chris further disclosed.

He had to raise the remaining half to pay off the owner of the bike, based on police advice.

The culprit had told Chris he was from Benue State, but he admitted he was no longer sure of the validity of the information.

He said all efforts to locate him had so far been futile.

He is, nonetheless, hopeful the culprit will still be caught by the police.
