Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar, Burna Boy, has revealed that he converted to Islam after what he described as a long and personal search for truth and inner peace.

Speaking during a recent livestream chat with American streamer, PlaqueBoyMax, Burna Boy, born Damini Ogulu, said his spiritual awakening came after years of questioning and reflection.

“I was born into Christianity because that’s what my parents believed. But as I got older, I started researching more about life and faith, and that was when I found Islam,” he explained. “It just gave me peace.”

The City Boys hitmaker added that prayer now plays a central role in his life. “Whenever I pray, I feel like I’m heard. Sometimes, I get answers so quickly that it shocks me,” he said.

While Burna Boy clarified that he is still deepening his understanding of religion, he insisted that his decision was purely personal and not influenced by fame or fashion.

“I’ve studied so much, but the more I learn, the more I realise there’s still so much to discover,” he noted.

The revelation has sparked reactions across social media, with fans expressing admiration for his honesty and others reflecting on how faith continues to shape the lives of African music icons.
