When news broke out on the disappearance of a woman identified as Bukola Ogunlana, who was last seen on May 8, at River Valley Estate, Ojodu-Berger, in Ogun State, Nigerians were hoping and praying that she would be found.
A day after NewsmakersNG published the missing person story, there was feedback that Bukola had been found at the emergency ward of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where she had been rushed to after a hit and run driver knocked her down.
For four days, Bukola laid unconscious at the hospital, as friends and family members prayed fervently for a quick recovery.
But, all expectations of a recovery went awry on Saturday, when NewsmakersNG learnt that the accident victim died at the hospital.
Authorities at OREN School where she was a staff, issued a statement on the development.
Here’s the statement in full:
Good Day Esteemed Parents,
Our hearts are saddened. The Oren family has suffered the loss of one of our members, Miss Bukola Ogunlana. She passed on early hours of this morning, May 16, 2020, at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. She was a victim of a ghastly vehicle accident that happened on the evening of May 8, 2020. Unfortunately, she succumbed to the extensive injuries she sustained from the crash. She was a friend, sister, teacher and valued member of this family, and she will be terribly missed.
We understand that many of you knew her, and all of you share in the sadness of this loss. We, at Oren, would like to appeal to you all, to permit us to suspend the Online classes for 3 days (Monday 18 – Wednesday 20), to allow us grieve, and pay our respects to her, and her family.
We will recommence classes on Thursday, May 21st.
Thank you for your understanding and continuous support. We never take them for granted.
Kind regards,
Oren Management.
