President Muhammadu Buhari has described the collapse of a three-storey building housing a school at Itafaaji area of Lagos on Wednesday as “extremely sad”.

Twelve children have so far been confirmed dead and 46 others are battling for life at the General Hospital in Marina, Lagos.

The President is particularly sad because of the many children killed in the accident.

The nursery school was on the second floor of the building, which is said to be about 30 years old.

While commiserating with the government and people of Lagos State over the incident, the President pledged the assistance of the Federal Government to the state.

He also asked the Lagos State government to do all that is needful, to prevent a recurrence of such tragic developments in the future.
