The storm that has been raging for days over the reinstatement of former chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr Abdullahi Abdulrasheed Maina, has finally swept him out of office.
President Muhammadu Buhari has, today, directed the immediate disengagement of Maina from service.
A statement received from the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, broke the news, adding: “In a memo to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the President equally demanded a full report of the circumstances of Maina’s recall and posting to the Ministry of Interior.
“The report is to be submitted to the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, before the end of work today, Monday, October 23, 2017.”
Maina had been sacked from the federal civil service in 2013 and was in 2015 placed on the wanted list of INTERPOL by the EFCC.
But a Premium Times report last week revealed that Maina was issued a letter of reinstatement dated Monday, October 2 by the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation.
The letter claimed that Maina’s case was reviewed and that a decision was taken that he be reinstated.
The letter also indicated his new posting as acting director of the department of Human Resources at the ministry of interior.
The reinstatement was allegedly carried out on the instruction of the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
