President Muhammadu Buhari has formally resumed work today after leaving the reins of power in the hands of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for 52 days.
A statement received, by Newsmakers, from the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, says the President has also sent a letter to inform the National Assembly of his resumption.
The President, who returned to the country on March 10, after his medical vacation in London, entered his office today at about 11.15 a.m.
The terse statement says, “In compliance with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the President has formally transmitted letters to the Senate and the House of Representatives, intimating the National Assembly “that I have resumed my functions as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with effect from Monday, March 13, 2017, after my vacation”.
Newsmakers learnt that Buhari would later hold meeting with Osinbajo.
Adesina had revealed on his twitter handle, on Friday, that the President would today transmit a letter to the National Assembly indicating his resumption of work after his vacation in London.
