Long-suffering residents of Borno State capital, Maiduguri, trooped out to register their displeasure on the lingering Boko Haram attacks as President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in the town on a sympathy visit today.
Residents of the metropolis were seen, in a viral video, lined up on both sides of the road leading to the airport. They expressed their disapproval by shouting at Buhari’s convoy in the Hausa language: ‘Ba ma so’ roughly meaning: ‘We don’t want’.

Buhari landed in Maiduguri from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to pay a sympathy visit to the government and people of the state, following Sunday’s horrific incident in which Boko Haram terrorists killed several travellers at Auno, about 25 kilometres to the town.
Shortly after the President left the state, Boko Haram terrorists reportedly launched a fresh attack on Jiddari-Polo area, a suburb of Maiduguri.
NewsmakersNG learnt that civilians have fled the area as troops battled the terrorists.
Boko Haram insurgents had on Sunday night attacked travellers that were forced to pass the night in Auno, killing 30 persons.
According to eyewitnesses, some of the victims were reportedly burnt beyond recognition by a fire from a petrol tanker set ablaze by the terrorists.
The terrorists also abducted 22 people and burnt 18 vehicles and properties worth millions of naira, including shops and residential houses.
The attack reportedly took place at about 9.50pm after hundreds of travellers were stopped from proceeding to Maiduguri by soldiers manning the road around 5pm.
