Plans by President Muhammadu Buhari to upgrade police barracks nationwide began to take shape today with the visitation of the Chairman of Police Trust Fund (PTF) and former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Sulaiman Abba to some dilapidated barracks and facilities in Lagos.
Abba, who was accompanied on the Inspection tour by the Lagos State commissioner of police (CP) Hakeem Odumosu, the CP in charge of Works, Department of Logistics and Supply, Aliyu Abubakar, the Area ‘A’ Commander at Lion Building, ACP Bode Ojajuni, and others, assessed the condition of Obalende and Ije barracks at Obalende area, the Mopol 20 Police Barracks and the Police College at Ikeja.
While assessing the deplorable condition of the barracks, the Police Trust Fund Chairman assured the personnel and their families of the President’s commitment to improving their welfare and living conditions with a view to getting the best service delivery from them.
He said that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration had deemed it fit to kick-start the Trust Fund to improve the Nigeria Police especially in the areas of training, welfare, logistics and a host of others, for more reinforced internal security of the country.
