There are indications that President Muhammadu Buhari may be considering reinstating the sacked Director General of the State Security Service (SSS), Lawal Daura.
A source close to seat of power told NewsmakersNG that the rumours of Daura’s impending return to office is rife in the presidential villa.
The source however failed to disclose the reason behind the decision.
Daura was sacked by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on August 7, 2018 when he was acting for Buhari.
The sack of the DSS boss followed an unauthorised invasion of the National Assembly by armed and masked operatives of the department in the morning of the same day.
A statement by Osinbajo’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Laolu Akande, to announce Daura’s sack said he had been directed to hand over to the most senior officer in the service.
The siege by the DSS, which began as early as 6am caught most employees of the National Assembly unawares as cleaners, bankers, reporters and others who had business to transact within the complex were prevented from entering the premises.
