A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been shot to death by an unidentified assailant in Ekiti State.
The victim, Bunmi Ojo, was reportedly shot dead in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, Friday evening.
NewsmakersNG learnt that Ojo, who was a popular APC member in the state, a close aide of former Governor Segun Oni and former Commissioner at the Federal Character Commission, was watching a football match at a viewing centre along Adebayo road when he was attacked by the gunman.
Security sources told NewsmakersNG the deceased was a relation of Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, who is married to Tinubu’s eldest daughter, Folashade.
But some aides of the APC leader have faulted this claim, noting the two were only friends and not in any way related.
One of them said: “The deceased is from Ido-Osi local government area, same as former Governor Segun Oni. But Hon. Oyetunde Ojo is from Erijinyan in Ekiti West local government area. So the claim that they are related is questionable. I am sure some people are trying to politicise this tragic incident.”
