Tinubu Clinches APC Presidential Ticket in Grand Style

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary held in Abuja.

Tinubu, former Lagos State governor and National Leader of the APC, defeated 13 other candidates, including Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, to emerge victorious in the election, which commenced around 2 am and was concluded this morning.

Tinubu’s votes swallowed the 831 total scores of all the other aspirants put together.

Tinubu scored 1,271 to defeat his closest competitors, Amaechi and Osinbajo, who scored 316 and 235 votes respectively.

The aspirants’ scores were announced as Asiwaju Bola Tinubu – 1,271, Rotimi Amaechi – 316, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo – 235, Senate President Ahmed Lawan – 152, Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello – 47, Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi – 38, Prof Ben Ayade – 37, Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima – 4, former Abia State governor, Ogbonnaya Onu – 1, former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Uwaezuoke Uwajiuba – 1, Senior Pastor, Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare – 0, former Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha – 0, Jack Rich – 0, Chief Ikeobasi Mokelu – 0.

The election saw a total of 2,322 delegates cast their ballots

The delegates were drawn from the 774 local government areas of the country including the six area councils in the FCT.
