The suspended Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, has been reinstated.
An online news medium, franktalknow.com, reported that Ogundipe was reinstated today.
The governing council of the university had accused Ogundipe of financial impropriety and gross misconduct and consequently removed him as vice chancellor.
He was removed at the council meeting held at the headquarters of the National Universities Commission, in Abuja.
His removal was opposed by a large section of the university community prompting the Federal Government to direct the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman of Council of the university, Dr. Wale Babalakin and the sacked vice chancellor to step aside from official duties to allow a Visitation Panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to probe the crisis.
The President, as visitor to the University also removed Prof. Theophilus Soyombo, the acting vice chancellor appointed by Babalakin-led council, after which the university senate elected Prof Folashade Ogunsola to act as the VC pending the outcome of the investigation of visitation panel.
Following this development, Babalakin resigned his position as the chairman of council, faulting the composition and the terms of reference of the visitation panel.
