A photojournalist with the Vanguard, Abayomi Adeshida, was this morning beaten up by security aides of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, at the banquet hall of the presidential villa in Abuja.
The journalist was reportedly covering an event organised by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), when the incident happened.
NewsmakersNG learnt that Adeshida was taking photographs of the vice president at the exhibition stand when security operatives pounced on him.
His camera was reportedly damaged while he was dragged on the floor right in the presence of the vice-president.
Describing his ordeal in a chat with NewsmakersNG, Adeshida said: “Today was the most embarasing day of my life. I was dehumanised and manhandled like a common criminal.”
Adeshida said he was only trying to take pictures during the inspection of the exhibition stands when the VP’s security aides pounced on him.
