Breaking: Okada, Tricycle Riders Protest Ban in Lagos, Clash with Police

Suspected commercial motorcycle and tricycle riders today protested their ban by the Lagos State Government.

The protest which started in Ijora area resulted in a clash with the police, throwing residents into panic.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the clash occurred when the policemen attempted to stop the protest.

The protesters reportedly blocked major roads in the area with burning tyres, while singing solidarity songs.

Witnesses say policemen fired shots into the air in an attempt to disperse the protesters.

The Lagos State Government had banned motorcycles and tricycles, including the popular Opay, Gokada and Max ng, from six local governments areas as well as major expressways and bridges starting from February 1.
